Nathan was so excited as soon as he saw everybody and we told him we were getting ice-cream. He kept pointing to the pictures on the menu and then pointing as waiters brought out other people's ice-cream. So once they finally brought ours out he was beside himself. I tried to give him a bite of mine but instead he took my spoon from me and dug right into Matt's ice-cream and proceeded to eat about a third of it.
As you can tell he is very serious when it comes to eating ice-cream.
And then my sister Emily decided that since we were celebrating we should have the waiters sing
"Happy Birthday" to Nathan because they would look at us weird if we asked them to sing "Happy No Seizure-versary". Plus she knew it would mortify my in-laws.

Turns out Nathan loved getting sang to and tried so hard to blow out the candle by himself. There were two big parties right next to us with real birthdays and after Nathan was sung to he was totally into it and would watch the waiters sing to them, try to help them blow out their candle from two tables over, and then clap his hands and cheer for them. It was so cute, who knew candles were so much fun?
It turned into such a fun night and we were so grateful that our families dropped everything last minute to come celebrate with us. Last summer when we were in the thick of it our families were so good to us and really became our rock. From fasting and praying to taking Nathan for the night to coming to doctor appointments to holding Nathan while he cried our families were always there for us and we couldn't have gotten through it without them. We love you guys so much, thank you for all that you continue to do for us every day!
